our story

a house of beginnings.

mammisi makes clothes for the first six years, in Cairo, out of Egyptian cotton and nothing else. Rooted in heritage, made for childhood.

how a piece gets made.

Long-staple Egyptian cotton, pre-washed before it is cut. Cotton thread through every seam. Cut and sewn in Cairo, in the sizes a child actually passes through — twelve months to six years, each one with a year of growing room built in.

what we will not do

  • No polyester, no synthetic fibre.
  • No tight cuts that are finished in a month.
  • No borrowed ornament from the antiquities.
  • No imagery that makes a child look older than they are.
how it is made

four hands, four steps, one shirt.

01

the cotton

Long-staple Egyptian cotton, bought as raw fibre and checked by hand for a soft, even staple.

02

the cut

Patterns drawn a full size generous, so a growing body is never held in at the shoulder.

03

the sewing

Flat seams where skin sits, cotton thread throughout — no plastic filament anywhere in the garment.

04

the finish

Pre-washed, pressed and folded in Cairo. The first wear already feels like the tenth.

cotton, and nothing else

No polyester, no synthetic fibre, nothing blended in. Long-staple Egyptian cotton, start to finish.

washes a hundred times

Pre-washed and colour-stable. Wash at 30°, hang in shade, it comes back the same.

made to be handed down

Reinforced seams and a size of growing room, so the piece survives to the next child.
